The Skipper
Owner Bill McDonald (or "Brother Bill" as he is affectionately known) has seafaring in the blood, a second-generation fisherman that has spent the last 39 years fishing, diving and surfing the Abrolhos Islands. This is one man you want to be with when you get on a boat, a wealth of knowledge that few can surpass. He hasn't just travelled through the Abrolhos Islands, he has made them his home for nearly four decades.
The Magellan is a reflection of everything Bill believes in: respecting the environment, co-existence with wildlife and fauna, conservation and appreciation; life and happiness. His beliefs are contagious and certainly reflected in the way the Magellan is forever kept, constantly gleaming and always clean.
The Magellan is the perfect host for any journey. So is the skipper.
Boat Cruises
The Magellan specialises in three types of boat cruises:
Perth Boat Charters
- Minimum 4-hour booking
- Available from November until March
- Day cruises (between 9 am and 5pm)
- Night cruises (between 6 pm and midnight)
- Gourmet catering and onboard BBQ facilities
Rottnest Island and Carnac Island boat cruises
- Minimum 6-hour booking
- Available from November until March
- Overnight and weekend charters
- Gourmet catering and BYO food options
- Additional tender vessel available (extra cost)
Abrolhos Island Holiday Cruises
- 5-day live-aboard charters (April through August)
- Depart from Geraldton
- Sleeps up to 8 passengers
- Family holiday and eco-cruises only
- Strictly catch and release fishing
The Magellan is surveyed for:
Swan River Cruises: 40 passengers
Rottnest Island Cruises: 30 passengers
Overnight/live-aboard: 8 passengers
